Access to Information
Access to Information Act
The Royal Canadian Mint is subject to the Access to Information Act. The purpose of the Access to Information Act is to provide Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or any individual or corporation present in Canada the right to access information in records under the control of a government institution, subject to specific and limited exemptions (i.e. Access to Information Requests).
We respect the obligations of the Access to Information Act, taking into consideration the need to protect commercially sensitive information in order to maintain our competitiveness and long-term viability.
Privacy Act
The Royal Canadian Mint is subject to the Privacy Act, the purpose of which is to extend the present laws of Canada that protect the privacy of individuals with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of their personal information held by a government institution.
The Privacy Act also provides individuals with the right to access to personal information about themselves held by a government institution (i.e. Personal Information Requests) and the opportunity to request the correction of such information should it be inaccurate.
How to Submit a Request
The Access to Information and Privacy Online Request Service offers a convenient way to submit a request through its portal. This service enables individuals to make a request online for information that is held by the Royal Canadian Mint and other Government of Canada institutions, and eliminates the need to print, scan, and email or mail a form to an institution.
If you are unable to access the portal, requests may be submitted by using the Access to Information Request Form or the Personal Information Request Form.
When making a request by mail, forms must be printed, completed and mailed to the Royal Canadian Mint at the following address:
Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator
Royal Canadian Mint
320 Sussex Drive
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0G8
*Please Note - Each Access to Information Request must be accompanied by a $5.00 application fee in the form of a cheque or money order made payable to the Royal Canadian Mint. There is no application fee for Personal Information Requests.
Requests for correction to your personal information may be submitted by using the Record Correction Request Form
This form can be mailed to:

Completed Access to Information Requests
One of the cornerstones of Canada’s transparency agenda is its continued compliance and promotion of the Access to Information Act and related activities. The Mint supports the Government of Canada in this by posting summaries of completed Access to Information requests processed to the Open Government access to information site. Summaries of the Mint’s completed Access to Information Requests are available from the Government of Canada's Open Government portal. They are made available on the portal within 30 calendar days after the end of each month and you can request a copy of the previously released records if you find one of interest.
