Mint employees compost 14 tonnes of waste in 2023

Mint employees collaborated on many projects over 2023, including waste diversion. Last year employees in both Ottawa and Winnipeg composted a combined 14 tonnes of waste, diverting waste from landfills and making an impact in our overall waste management strategy.

“We saw more than 18 kilograms per full-time equivalent employee composted, surpassing our original goal,” said Kristine Veaudry, Manager, Corporate Environment. “Employees really came together to make Mint activities, both day-to-day ones and special events, as environmentally responsible as possible, including the integration of compostable materials.”

Reaching goals like this one clearly takes a team. Over the past year employees across the Mint have come together to support the Mint’s ESG Commitment and Action Plan.
This includes the Workplace Environmental Committees (WEC), groups of employee volunteers in both Ottawa and Winnipeg working to make the Mint a more sustainable workplace, one small change at a time. WEC members are helping to raise awareness and engagement around waste diversion, composting, recycling, and sustainable commuting.
