The Mint is hiring a Senior Advisor, Strategic Procurement who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Partner Procurement, the Senior Advisor is responsible for leading complex, high value procurements on behalf of the RCM. They will use their procurement expertise, leadership, influential business and financial acumen to achieve results. The Senior Advisor has a professional background which enables them to manage multiple complex procurement files concurrently, and independently. The Senior Advisor is a trusted partner to internal clients consistently delivering positive outcomes on procurement projects which support internal clients in IT, Finance and other corporate functions. The Senior Advisor is also required to assess current and future business sourcing requirements and is able to plan and prioritize projects out up to 18 months out. The Senior Advisor will use well developed project management and communication skills to work with internal stakeholders and vendors on both ongoing procurement projects and longer-term strategic initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:
- Leads the strategic planning for the team’s most complex procurement opportunities, sourcing strategies and evaluation process
- Complete all aspects of high value, complex RFx processes up to an including contract award
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders and build strong relationships
- Support internal stakeholders in resolving contractual or performance issues with suppliers
- Works with the Mint’s internal risk stakeholders in Legal, Privacy, Cyber Security and Enterprise Risk Management to ensure vendor agreements fall within the Mint’s risk tolerance
- Identify and execute on continuous cost optimization and reduction
- Initiate supplier assessments and develop continuous improvement plans relating to stakeholders and suppliers
- Conduct in depth risk mitigation analysis and provide advice to stakeholders about supplier viability
- Lead various long-term strategic initiatives with stakeholders and vendors to improve the results of the Mint’s procurement function
This opening is to be filled on a hybrid working arrangement, and the incumbent will be required to work from the Ottawa location generally on an average of 2 to 3 days per month, however this could be subject to change based on based on operational requirements.

Qualifications:
Languages Requirements:
- An advanced level of bilingual proficiency in both official languages (English / French) is required at the time of hire. If a bilingual candidate is not identified, other candidate language profiles may be considered in accordance with the Mint’s Staffing Policy
Education & Designation:
- University Degree and or a combination of Post-Secondary Education in Commerce, Business or other relevant degrees to procurement and substantial experience may be considered
- MBA or Supply Chain Management Professional is an asset
Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of demonstrated success in procurement roles of progressive responsibility, delivering on revenue and cost efficiency projects, including facilitating and executing on RFx outsourcing projects
- Experience leading public procurements, and application of trade agreements in public procurements
- Experience in contract and vendor management
Additional Qualifications:
- Expert in all aspects of RFX development, execution and contract award
- Project management skills
- Expert communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects involving both internal stakeholders and vendors
- An independent self-starter and expert at solving complex issues with internal and external key stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in market analysis, vendor solicitation, procurement strategy development
- Strong contract and supplier negotiator
- Demonstrated success setting and achieving objectives with tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong collaborator with proven ability to influence others to align on objectives
- Experience with Microsoft D365 Supply Chain and Finance modules would be an asset
